Diamond Color

Diamond Color Although diamonds are usually thought of as being colorless, they occur in all colors. Color has two meanings in the diamond industry. Usually, it refers to an absence of color - a diamond said to have "fine color" frequently has no visible color at all. On the other hand we use the term fancy color to describe naturally colored diamonds with distinct, attractive tints.(Artifically colored diamonds are called treated).

Most diamonds are slightly yellow or brown, and are graded by how closely they approach colorless; the less color, the higher the value. But with fancy colors, the grade and value increase with color intensity.
